In many respects, the Bell Island we know today is nothing like the Bell Island of the past. What was once a thriving community, busy with the sounds of working men and growing families, is now a quiet island with a modest population of approximately 3000. What has not changed, however, is the will of the people still living on Bell Island. They fight for what they believe in, which is why they have managed to keep their hard-earned hospital. Adapting to the ever-changing demographics on the island, residents and health care officials are working together to ensure that the Bell Island Hospital remains open to watch out over this unique community for many years to come.
