The Foam Lake Heritage Marsh is honouring the Icelandic pioneers by naming trails and viewing sites in Icelandic and after Icelandic members of the community.

Iceland has been an enthusiastic supporter of the Vestur Islendingur's search for heritage. The Icelandic Emigration Center has collected resources for genealogy and research especially for North American Icelanders. It is run by Snorri Ŝorfinnson Ltd.

As well, the Icelandic government has set up the Snorri Program, which assists those of Icelandic descent to trace their ancestors and to experience Iceland. Several young people from the Vatnabyggd area have participated, and frequently recommend it.
