Without the high economic value of bentonite, mining in the Pembina Hills (Manitoba Escarpment) would never have lead to the exposure of fossils found in the area. The aid and co-operation of the Pembina Mountain Clays helped the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre (formerly the Morden and District Museum) acquire the abundant collection now housed in the museum, one of the greatest treasures in Canada.
