William Henry Steeves, is best known as one of the Fathers of Confederation.

In 1867, the Steeves family began a tradition, that continues today, of gathering in Hillsborough each year to visit their family and to celebrate their family roots. At the first family gathering in 1867, 400 descendants were present. In 1966, when the family celebrated 200 years of settled life, 10,000 descendants attended the festivities.
