Arnprior had two railway lines and two railway stations. The CNR (Canadian National Railway) and CPR (Canadian Pacific Railway). In 1864 the Brockville and Ottawa Railway, subsequently the Canadian Pacific Railway, came to Arnprior. This meant transportation of lumber from the McLachlin Mills was much easier, and the transportation of people to Ottawa by rail became a reality. In 1893, the Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound Railway came to Arnprior. This railway was laterally known as the Canadian National Railway.
