Mary was a full blooded Cree, who was raised by her aunt, after her parents were killed.

Fanny Gadsby, one of Jim's daughters.

Fanny and her sisters, Ann and Mary, and their brother, James all lived in the Lamerton district all their lives, and raised a large herd of Angus cattle.

After James died, Ann and Fanny continued to farm for many years.

After Jim Gadsby's death, many wanted his guns, and tried to pursuade the family to sell them. Fanny became tired of the harassment and buried the guns, so no one could find them.
