Nursing Sister Williston moved from Smiths Falls to Albany New York to practice nursing. She accepts the call to work at a veteran hospital in San Francisco, California in 1918. She agrees to go to San Francisco if the hospital will allow her to continue her studies to become a surgery nurse. When the hospital agrees she moves to California. Unfortunately, Nursing Sister Isabelle Williston is on active surgery for five days when she dies of the Spanish influenza pandemic that swept the world. She is buried in a small cemetery outside San Francisco. |
