General F.D. Middleton was the commander of the Canadian Militia and forefront in the capture and through strategic maneouvers, stopped the uprising. There were Columns sent forward from Qu-Appelle, Swift Current and Calgary, all came into contact with the rebels and inflicted casualties.

The Rebellion had collapsed everywhere by the end of June 1885. The role of the Mounted Force was not over as "there was, of course, a certain amount of cleaning up afterwards which was largely done by the Mounted Police".
