Centennial Year 1967 was the occasion of a very successful Centennial Blossom Ball at the Arena. The nine hundred guests were encouraged to wear period costumes. Music was provided by the Grimsby and District Secondary School Band and Wally Mack's Orchestra from Hamilton. Comments such as "The best thing that ever happened in Grimsby" and "We should have something like this once a year" testified to the success of the Centennial project.

Interest in an annual Blossom Festival subsequently dwindled and it is encouraging that the tradition started in the 1920's has now been re-established.
