Sports was something in which most townspeople in early Trail could participate, whether as a competitor or a spectator. From the very early days of this smelter town, sports were well supported in both summer and winter, and a tradition of excellence and sportsmanship was firmly established. Hockey, baseball, lacrosse, curling, track and field and wrestling, among many others, have all seen incredible athletes from Trail advance to the top. World champions and Olympians are not uncommon personalities in the sporting history of Trail.
