In 1866 the Fredericton Railway Company was established to build a line from Fredericton to Fredericton Jct. on the Western Extension line. Work on the 22 mile long line began in 1868 and was completed the following year. The only significant delay in construction of the line was a strike by the construction workers which was quickly silenced by the arrival of troops from Saint John. The first passenger train arrived from Fredericton on November 2, 1869. The line became part of the Canadian Pacific Railways system in 1892.
