The tragic crash of John Patterson in the "Queen of the Yukon II" at Mayo, on November 2, 1929. An engine failure after take off and an attempt to turn back to the landing strip made Patterson the first aviation fatality in the Yukon. He was 22 years old.Mason-Wood Photo
