Througout the years of contact of the white man, the Secwepemc people did not lose their cultural value of hunting and fishing. To this day Secwepemc still utilize the traditional techniques of fishing as the dip-net, weir, drift net, pit lamping and spear is still very active in todays fisheries. The adaption of modern equipment was adapted into traditional methods such as metal spear tips, motor boats to help move nets, synthetic nets and floats, rifles and traps to hunt and nails to build dry racks. However most still use leather strapping or sinew.
