Three dyking districts were now active on the flats. Reclamation Farmers Association had the original dyking district, which nearly spanned the entire width of the Creston Valley and reached south to the international border; it consisted of 7,000 acres. Another 8,000 acres were reclaimed as part of the Creston Dyking District, stretching from the Goat River to Wynndel. The smallest of the three was Nick's Island Dyking District, comprising 2,000 acres between French's Slough and the Kootenay River.
