Rosemary spent a lot of time watching, recording and photographing the wildlife around the harbour. She soon began corresponding with naturalists and birders around the province and writing about her observations for the Nova Scotia Bird Society newsletter and other publications. Her careful observations led to communications with other media. She used her photographs, as well as the written word, to raise awareness of Cole Harbour and, increasingly, the long term outlook for its environment if rapid urban development were to proceed with little overall regard for this sensitive ecosystem and important wildlife habitat. She devoted the rest of her life to doing everything she could to draw attention to the fragility of its natural systems and the need to protect them.
