The Legacy of Frost & Wood: Outstanding in their Field

TRANSCRIPT

Germaine Purcell: And my two brothers worked there during the war.

Kara Fraser: What were their names?

Germaine Purcell: George and Armand Normandin. They were both blind, [Karen].

Kara Fraser: Oh?

Germaine Purcell: They were both totally blind and they couldn't go to war, so they both worked there - oh, I think it was 1944 - I think they started there and they drilled hand grenades. They were looking for help because all the guys were gone to war and there was a lot of ladies in there that got jobs in different parts of the plant and my two brothers drilled the hand grenades and they said they - it was piece work - and they - different ones said that they made good on their piece work, because they weren't looking at the girls! They were both totally blind! They didn't pay any attention to those nice looking girls that were in there.
