TRANSCRIPT

WM - Wilma (Miller) Morrison, interviewee; MD - Marjorie (Bell) Dawson, interviewee / LR - Lyn Royce, interviewer

WM: Marjorie and I had gone up there and they sort of gave us a hard time, we couldn't uh, we wanted just put a plaque, [coughs] by the grave to uh, so that people would know who it was. And they said we couldn't do that. So and then she sent us to, to get a stone made, or something. And then just at that time, Derrick [Cooke] and John Dennison and uh...

MD: Yeah.

WM: ...oh dear, uh, Hilary [Weston], came up from Parks Canada and so we would you know, and I said, 'Well, this is where Anthony Burns,' like I was doing the, the Black History Tour, 'This is where uh, Anthony Burns is buried, but we don't go up there because the stone is in such bad shape.' And Hilary said, 'Well, Derrick, you can fix that can't you?' And that's how it all began.

LR: Ah!

WM: I was able to phone uh, uh, and then, you know, then that silly woman made so much fuss that I ended up havin' to call the church, write to churches, the conference and they uh, sent me a, a list of people who said that they want, they were behind the project.
