Growing Up In Peterborough: A Century of Stories

TRANSCRIPT

Barb: There were all outdoor skating rinks in the winter. We'd walk to a skating rink. In fact I can remember coming home frozen and getting in and then as you thawed out all the chilblains (went away). Carol: And where was your outdoor rink? Barb: Um, there was one at the corner of Monaghan and Charlotte. They were all over in empty lots all over the city. They were city owned, they had boards around them. And then when I got to about twelve I guess we used to, a group of girls, we used to go every Friday night over to Quaker and they had a lovely rink with music and lights and so we'd go and skate there.
