Interview with Llewellyn Smith - Llewellyn Explains the E.D. Smith Factory in the 1980's and 90's

The jobs in the factory, people think of a factory as people on the line and just packing boxes and that kind of thing. There is a lot more to it than that. We have a sizable engineering department, which were mechanical engineers, they are the ones that make sure the production lines ran smoothly, and changeovers took place efficiently, electrical engineers, pipe fitters, boiler operators, plumbing folks, industrial engineers, we had a lot of positions in logistics. About seven million cases of product packed twelve to a case are made in the plant today. And that is a lot of cases to move around the factory and get packed on a truck.
