I think because they were paid by piece work, that would be the number of basket that they made, that everything was all ready for them there, you know, to put together. (So there may have been other people who operated where they were stripping the bark?) Oh yes the men would be doing that, I don't think that the women did any of that physical work at all, as I remember.
