Interview with Lois E. Merritt, Merritt Bros. Basket Factory - Lois Explains how Baskets were Made

They peeled the logs and took the outside bark off of it and after that they used very sharp knives that would peel it off, that the women would use to make the baskets. They were all made by hand originally. And there would have been, I can't remember how many, forty or fifty women that used to be there making these baskets. And they got paid piece work for what they did, I can remember that.
