TRANSCRIPT

Interview with Anne Bridgman of Bridgman Farm - Anne Described the Process of Sorting and Packing Cherries.

After they were picked they were sorted in the fruit house and that was a real hive of activity. The baskets would be gathered up with a tractor and wagon and taken in there, and then there would be about half a dozen people on the cherry grader and basically one person at the end dumped the basket on to a conveyor belt that had three levels and people were standing at all the levels and pulling out the ones that were either split or if they didn't have the stem on it was also defective or, not very many would be rotten, but rotten I guess too, and at the other end, they were going into a basket and ready to ship.
