Interview with Duncan Smith, Farmer of Smith Two Century Farm - Duncan Explains how Farming Changes by the Seasons on his Farm

During the winter season we were doing maintenance work and repairing machinery or buildings or trimming trees or doing income tax reports for income tax. In the springtime you would be getting the land prepared for your crops whether it was ploughing or spraying or cultivating. And in the summer time we would be harvesting fruit or we would be picking, sorting, selling and marketing fruit. In the fall the trees or vines would need to be put to bed or gotten into shape so that they would be ready for the winter. So every day is a little bit different because weather is very important. It dictates what we do. If it is too wet we can't cultivate or harvest or work outside. So we would work inside repairing machinery or whatever.
