Interview with Lew Puddicombe of Puddicombe Farms - Lew Discusses the Seasons and Order of the Harvests

Well, we worked hard (tending grapes), and actually we started out in the spring with... well, actually you trim your trees and vines all winter long. Spring time, you'd recruit people in and tie the grapes to the vines, with wires. And then as the time went on you did your spray program that carried on all summer long and generally speaking on this farm, our first crop in my time was sweet cherries. Well, actually no it wasn't. It was gooseberries. Do you know what gooseberries are? But as time went on they ran out of favour with people so they went out, but nevertheless we went on to sweet cherries and sour cherries and on to plums, peaches, pears and grapes, finish up the season with grapes. And then you start in with your fall work. You prepare the land for winter time and start all over again. That would be the annual... it's very mundane.
