Paul Kane's Cobourg 1833-1834

It may have been in the year 1828 when a group of local men decided the time had come for Cobourg to have a landing wharf and a harbour on its waterfront. The colonial government was approached and permission was granted to organize a joint stock company and begin construction of the piers to form the harbour.

Names found on the original company members included Boulton, Clench and Ruttan.
