Sliding, Gliding and Soaring: A history of skiing in Revelstoke, British Columbia

Look at the jumping today, how it's changed. The style of jumping, you noticed, it's changed. The idea, when they first jumped was their arms were out at the sides, straight out like in a cross position and you waved it around sort of, as little as possible. And then it was to have your arms tight beside you, and like an arrow shape, skis tight together, where you lay out onto the air to support you. But then they discovered scientifically through air tunnels and so forth, that if you spread your skis out, you get more air support underneath you, not just the width of your body but the skis on your side and more balance too. They don't look as stylish to me as they used to when their arms were right tight against their side and they lean right into the hill, and just sort of dove down.
