One of the major roles of the Indian Agent was the regular inspection of the schools.
The local Indian Agent was required to submit a quarterly report on events and issues within his Agency and a portion of the reports deal specifically with visits to the schools in the Agency.
Information such as the school, health, sanitation, meals, fire drills and protection surrounding the students needed to be provided in the report, along with comments on vocational training, disciplines, efficiency of the staff and the general management of the school.
There were also Medical Inspectors for Indian Agencies who visited the schools, examined the students, and reported on their health and well-being and any health or safety concerns.
