Sweat Equity – The Grimsby Homebuilding Co-operative 1953-1956

Grimsby Museum 2021

Through firsthand accounts and archival footage, Sweat Equity – The Grimsby Homebuilding Co-operative 1953–1956 celebrates early homebuilding co-ops in Canada. This exhibition explores the movement’s origins in Nova Scotia, and its later spread to Ontario and the town of Grimsby, where hard work, co-operation and sweat equity helped build both homes and a sense of community.
