Memories of the Women's College Hospital School of Nursing

The Miss Margaret Robins Archives of Women's College Hospital 2016

Explore the history of nursing education in Canada through Toronto’s Women’s College Hospital School of Nursing. The school opened the door for Canadian women in the 20th century to pursue a nursing career. Using oral recollections, writings, and photographs from the hospital’s archives, this exhibit tells the stories of nursing students over a sixty-year period — including the story of the school’s very first student in 1915! Follow in the footsteps of a student nurse: first day of school, first time on the wards, daily life in residence, and the making of friendships that last a lifetime!
