Much has been written about how British and Irish immigration has influenced Newfoundland society. Little has been written about how other non-European identities have contributed to our history.\u00a0 Starting in the late 19th century, Lebanese immigrants established a successful community, despite the prejudices of Newfoundland society at the time.<\/span><\/p>\n

This exhibition looks at the mark Lebanese-Newfoundlanders left on the development of culture, place names, music, and food in Newfoundland and Labrador.<\/span><\/p>\n

This project developed out of the research and storytelling that was part of the Provincial Historic Commemoration of \u201cThe Establishment of the Lebanese Business Community in Newfoundland\u201d as an Outstanding Historic Event in 2023.
