In 1917, one of the first advertisements for the Ioco general store was printed in the Ioco Times. The store was owned by J.B. Gilfillan and had several different owners while it was in business. In 1937, Sam Canning was owner of the general store and sold it to Jim McCarthy who ran it until 1945 when Ioco residents purchased it and began a co-op. The store was known as Evan's Grocery and was operated by George Evans and Jack Popham. The Tuckey's purchased the Ioco store in 1950 and in the late 1950's it was sold to Denny Sheirk who ran the store until its closure in 1995.
