Today, only 14 buildings are left standing on the Ioco townsite. Most have been moved from the site or demolished. With the closure of the refinery in 1995, the future of Ioco is uncertain, but former residents and local historians are working together to ensure that the remaining structures such as the Ioco community hall, school, Groceteria, and a few homes are preserved as an important part of British Columbia's history.
In 2002 the Ioco townsite became a heritage conservation area through the city of Port Moody. Each year since, a festival, 'Ioco Ghost Town Day' is held the first Sunday of October to bring back a community reminder of Ioco Townsite's former glory.

In 2008, Anne Cottingham, a student at the Art Insitiute of Vancouver took an interest in the Ioco townsite after using it as a photo project with fellow Art Institute of Vancouver student, Collin Jones. Anne took the following photos that depict Ioco as it is today. The images show in an artistic way, the former life of the community.
