3. Having weighed the milk, sample portions were taken to be used in the Babcock Tester.
4. The Babcock Tester operated as follows to determine the butterfat content of the milk:
i) 17.5cc of milk was taken into a pipette and placed in a test tube.
ii) 17.5cc of sulfuric acid was added to the milk sample.
iii) The test tube whirled in the centrifuge of the Babcock Tester for five minutes.
