The station at 'Mile 0' of the Kettle Valley Railway was built around 1910. It replaced the 1900 Columbia & Western station, which is reputed to have burned down. The new station was built in the Canadian Pacific architectural style of the day: hip-roofed with wood-shingle siding.

When CP Rail's operation at Midway ended, the community purchased the abandoned station building for a nominal fee. It was lifted and trucked off the CP Rail right-of-way and onto a new foundation fifty meters to the south.

The Kettle River Museum left its old home in the centre of Midway and became a beautiful new museum building on the Midway Station grounds. It opened in 1992. The Museum displays artifacts related to every aspect of life in the Boundary, at home and at work: from recreation and ranching to railroading and forestry. Most of the artifacts have been donated by Boundary residents over the years .
