The LOL Parade was put on by the Loyal Orange Lodge. The hotspot depicts the gas lights that were in town before electricity. Young boys were paid to climb the lights to light them up before dark.

In 1906 the Massey Light and Power Company was created. It was a company that provided the town with gas lighting. The lights were lit and extinguised manually. In 1925 the Deagle Electric Company replaced the gas lighting system with an electrical system. In 1952 the Deagle Electric Company's service was replaced by the Hydro Electric Power Company of Ontario.
