Margaret Daugherty

Margaret Daugherty came to Kirkland Lake in 1939 from Chatham, Ontario. She attended Queen Elizabeth School and Kirkland Lake Collegiate and Vocational Institute. In 1950, two years after graduating from KLCVI, she was hired as a secretary by KLCVI principal Roger Allen, a post she kept until she retired in 1991 for health reasons. She was secretary to five principals: Roger Allan, Norm Cheeseman, Ray Mallette, Bill Beard, and Ralph Doner.

Her home on Tower Street is the same one her father purchased back in 1939 and Margaret still lives there today. Although her blindness prevents her from being as active in the community as she once was, she still teaches piano in her home.
