So the idea of a theatre within the Creamery disappeared and a separate Performing Arts Centre was planned, with the Ice House moved to become the foyer to the theatre. This part of the project has probably presented the most problems. Originally there were ideas to commence building the theatre in 2007, but it has in fact been a number of years before work finally started in 2012.

The name has changed so that it will now be The Centre for the Arts, with a vision of some theatrical performances but also a variety of other ideas and associated functions. Sustainability is a worry..... it is afterall a small community and theatres in other parts of the province seem to have a hard time winning audiences

Seating in the theatre will be movable so that flexibility within the theatre space will be possible

The outdoor stage has moved to its new site between the Shed building and the Heritage Centre, and backing on to the river.

The theatre plan for 2009 - showing the Ice House as the foyer followed by washrooms, then an area for food service before entering the theatre.

By 2012 the Centre for the Arts was still not built. Delays in receiving the promised funding has slowed down construction, but with 2 months of the year to go, suddenly there is great activity.

At last the foundations for the Centre for the Arts are started. On a glorious Fall day, the excavator fills the trucks and the soil is rapidly removed from the area. Much has to happen before the first snow fall.
