Former guide Jean-Paul O'bomsawin-Lamirande, Olivier's grandson, remembers the horse trotted during a whole night in its paddock. Apparently, a wolf ran after a hare all the way to the club. That wolf prowled around the club all night long and scared the horse. But the hare preferred to jump in the water and drown rather than be the wolf's breakfast. They found it in the lake early the next morning.
