For the major part of the 20th century (and for centuries before) what we now call green was known as life.Recycling and repurposing were the norm, and nobody gave any thought to it.Blacksmiths were incredibly efficient at this, in part due to the high price of new material.For years, Mr.Ambroz had large piles of scrap that he would sell for $15-20 per ton. In addition, he would re-use materials to craft new products.evidence of this is still visible in the shop.

The most visible example of repurposing is the fence around the property made of recycled parts from agricultural equipment.7
These bins in the back room of the shop overflow with nuts and bolts. Left over from jobs, they were kept for future projects.8
