The Legacy Ledger, 1922

When Alfred Harmsworth, Lord Northcliffe, died in August, 1922, he left a substantial legacy to his employees. By the terms of the will, all workers who had been in his employ for the three years or more immediately preceding his death were entitled to the equivalent of three months pay. The Legacy Ledger was recovered when the Abitibi-Bowater Company ceased operations and funding was apllied for and granted for the restoration of this important document. The ledger details the names, addresses and amount of inheritance for each eligible employee under the terms of Lord Northcliffe's will. This document is now in the possession of the Grand Falls-Windsor Heritage Society.
