Charles Wilson moved to Weyburn from Swindon, England in 1908 with his parents Frederick Levi Wilson and Eliza Ann (Peck) Wilson. In Weyburn his father owned and operated the Waverly Hotel (known as the King George Hotel). Charlie's father also bought a farm about 8 miles north of Weyburn. In 1915 the hotel was sold and the family moved to the farm. This was the house where all the silver and antiques of Charles Wilson where stored and displayed. In later years the house had to be torn/burnt down. A new house is built on homestead with family members residing at present time.

Charles was a bachelor with a passion, choosing to fill his home, not with the joyful sounds of children at play, but with something tangible that depicted a side of history of the upper class society. This unique collection is the largest private collections of silver in Canada. Items portrayed in the collection encompass the Art Nouveau & Victorian Era. Designs emphasized are the fiddle pattern and the grape & vine pattern. The glass items can be grouped into categories of china, cut glass, Bohemian and Pinwheel crystal.
