From 1926 until 1946 Macdonald placed weekly ads for Kentville Concrete in the local weekly newspaper "The Advertiser". Much of what we know about Macdonald's politics comes from these ads. His ambivalence for advertising led him to mention concrete products less and less, instead commenting on the state of Communist Russia, the evils of speculators, and the lack of organization among local fruit growers.2
