'Victims No More' was a very successful project that took place at the Lennoxville and District Women’s Centre in 2002 and 2003. The project 'Victims No More' consisted in offering art and creative writing workshops to women who have experienced physical, sexual or psychological violence. The workshops were led by an Art Therapist and were designed to permit the women to break their silence about the subject matter of violence in a supportive and confidential setting, a place where they could share their stories with each other. This approach to the workshops was designed to help and guide the participants to engage in a process of healing and awareness. At the end of the workshops, the participants were invited to select one of their pieces or to create a new piece to be displayed for public viewing on an anonymous basis.
The 'Victims No More' project was made possible by a collaboration between the Eastern Townships Women On the March (ETWOM) who conceived and organized the project; the Lennoxville and District Women's Centre, who administered and provided infrastructure to the project and, finally, the Fonds régional de la participation sociale of the Conseil régional de développement de l’Estrie, which provided the financial support for the project.
