The official opening of the exhibit took place on July 10, 2010 and speeches started at 1:00pm. The cake cutting and speeches took place in the council chambers adjacent to the museum. The opening was a huge success, having an estimated 100 people in attendance made up of mainly volunteers, community members and invited special guests. After speeches, the cake cutting took place and the museum was opened to allow guests to view the exhibit. As well, the Arts and Crafts Guild opened their doors for viewers while an old time band played in the basement exhibit. As well, a Behind the Scenes Tour was held and, despite the rain, Cemetery Tours went on.
