As the Historical Record Project was wrapping up its activities, some of the members noticed that the former PPJ/CPR Railway Station in Shawville was being sold and dismantled. Funds left after the completion of the project were added to funds donated by Shawville Council and the Rotary Club, and the old train station was purchased, and saved from demolition. The railway company wanted the building removed from the railway, and a spot was secured at the south-west corner of the Shawville Fairgrounds, and the building was moved to a new foundation in the new location, where it was transformed into the Pontiac Historical Museum.
