The Shawville, Clarendon, Thorne Historical Record Project revolved around the interviews. A cross-section of regional elder citizens were recruited to be interviewed. Since the Pontiac is a close-knit community, some were parents, grandparents cousins or neighbours of project members. The interviews were conducted in the subjects' homes, using a portable cassette recorder. The resulting audio recordings were catalogued and placed in the Shawville-Clarendon public library for many years. When the new library and archives building was built, the tapes and photographs moved there, where they remain on file.

The entries in this storyline consist of pictures of the interview subjects, summaries of their interviews, and some selected audio clips from those interviews, with summaries or transcripts. In some cases, no photo was found, and the summarization of the interviews is ongoing, as yet incomplete.

As a by-product of this Community Memories Exhibit, digital copies of the interviews and photos will be at the Pontiac Archives, and can be heard, in preference to endangering the original cassettes from overplay.
