No one was left out of organized activities in the Jewish community. Some activities were specific to Jewish life, others widened their horizons.

There were as many as 100 children in the Hebrew School in the 1920s and aside from their lessons children enjoyed annual picnics. By the 1960s there were sixty children arranged in several classes and forming life long friendships. Within forty years there were fewer than ten children attending these classes in a single weekly class.

Percy Goldman was infused with Zionist fervour in 1917 after the visit of the Jewish legionnaires and he founded Young Judaea to teach the children a love of Zion and Jewish culture. There were clubs for every age group and weekly meetings were held. The youth of Saint John also hosted a number of conferences including one in 1938 that attracted huge numbers of people. Maritime conferences were held throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Several national leaders emerged from Saint John - Ben, Bill, Abe and Jack Guss (1930s and 1940s) and Lyle Isaacs and Richard Freedman in the late 1960s.

As a result of discrimination, Jewish young people formed the Young Men's Hebrew Association. The members participated in numerous activities - gym classes, bowling, basketball and lectures. Many meetings were held in the Synagogue but a meeting hall was also acquired at 24 Horsfield Street. The highlight was the annual ball held at the Admiral Beatty Hotel.
