'Pacific Coast Bulk Terminals Co. Ltd.' was incorporated in 1958. 'Pacific Coast Terminals,' located in New Westminster, was its parent company. After a cost of around $2.24 million the Port Moody facility opened in March, 1960. Within the first years, many bulk commodities such as sulphur, wood chips, coal, and chemical fertilizers passed through the terminal. An expansion was completed in 1966 and in 1970 there was a joining of the parent company, PCT, and PCBT, the new company being called, 'Pacific Coast Terminals Co. Ltd.' In 1981 the New Westminster site was sold. In 1982 PCT was bought by Sultran Ltd., who invested in repairs and improvements to the facility and turned the terminal's focus towards sulphur and bulk liquids. During the 1980s and 1990s the terminal expanded, received various upgrades, improved its environmental standards, and made an effort to increase involvement in Port Moody's community. Today PCT is the largest export terminal of sulphur in the world.
