Many of the young men were returning home form the 'Great War', which began on the 28th of July 1914 and finished on the 10th of November 1918, and it was a time of great joy and great sorrow. Eight of the young men did not returned. Steven Dunn, George Myall, Dick Graves, Joe Thompson, George Chase, George Graves, Rodger O'Brien and George Waltho. Some of those returning picked up where they left off while others have no record of their living in the area after World War I.

John Bridal was born at Molmur, Ontario in 1882. He married Mary Alvinia McEachern in 1928 and they farmed on the east side of Mather until retiring to town in 1946.

Clarence Daly, better know as Sia.

Clarence Daly, better know as Sia, worked on the home farm with his older brother Arnold until 1916 when he joined the army and went overseas. He was in the Army of Occupation while peace treaties were being signed and came home in May, 1919, when the Strike was on in Winnipeg.
Sia bought a Soldier Settlement farm from the government and married Helena Robertson in !921.They had four children, Nora, Gorden, Jack and Beth who died when she was six months old. Sia sang in the choir and the children went to Sunday School which was at two P.M. and the church at three P.M.. At one time in the thirties the Sunday School had a very good orchestra and an average attendance of ninety-nine.
