The open-air service to celebrate the laying of the foundation of the present church was held in the spring of 1874. It was described as "an interesting service" and "an auspicious occasion". The service was conducted by the Rev. Thomas Harris with Mary Leamon (later, Mrs. William Bartlett) presiding at the organ - or, more accurately, the melodeon, which had been moved from Whitethorn Cottage for the occasion.

The church continued to be a place of worship until, between 1912 - 1916, when steps were taken to renovate it with a view to beautifying its interior and adding some new conveniences. This included new choir seats, a new and larger stained and polished Communion Rail and an appropriately designed pulpit topped with a thick padding of plush red velvet. Additionally, the beautiful spiral motif brass oil lamps stands on both sides of the pulpit were electrified, and lights were added along the sides of the choir archway and over the organ console, while incandescent bulbs with milk-glass reflectors hung on long chords from the apexes of the high gothic archways along the sides of the aisles.

Shortly after World War I, a memorial tablet honoring those members of the congregation who had served in that great conflict was placed on the church's north wall. During 1963 a decision was made by the congregation to carry out extensive alterations to both the exterior and interior of the stately edifice, including moving the memorial to the vestibule.

From the time of the earlier renovation in 1915... a decision was made to carry out extensive alterations to both the exterior and interior of the stately edifice...

...Work began in the summer of 1963. The upper portions of the roof were removed, along with the row of small gothic windows which were between the two roof levels. The porch with its north and south entrances, the bell tower along with the bell and its ringing mechanism, as well as the octagonal spire with its weather vane were all dismantled... and "updates" were installed.

Dedication services following (these) renovations were held on Sunday, November 24, of that year.

The 100th anniversary of the Church was held on May 11, 1975, with services held at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
